Theory course : RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore


 

This internationally recognised RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Navigation certificate is granted by the RYA/MCA (Uk).
It is the only navigation certificate that is internationally accepted. 

Intended for:

Skippers wanting to obtain the international top certificate RYA/MCA Yachtmaster. If you pass the practical exam, you can also navigate yachts for professional purposes, with a maximum length of 24m and with no more than 12 paying passengers aboard. (Ref Marine Safety Agency and Department of Transport).
This theoretical training is valid for motor boats and sailing boats.

Condition(s) to participate:

  It is advisable to dispose of the certificate ‘RYA/MCA Day Skipper theory and practice’ or of an equivalent navigation certificate such as that of Yachtsman.
We assume that the candidates have a good basic knowledge of IAR regulations, IALA rules, variation and deviation calculation, map reading, course determination, currents and water depths calculation, meteorology and safety.
A good knowledge of the English language is also required, because the courses are given in English (the international language of instruction at sea is English).  

Course material:

The candidate receives a complete RYA Yachtmaster Student Pack with a colour manual, a RYA Navigation manual; two RYA exercise maps, a RYA exercise book, a RYA training almanac, a booklet with international collision regulations and a navigation software package on CD-rom. 

Training contents

Extensive traditional and electronic navigation techniques, the IAR regulation, IALA buoyage, an extensive meteorology course, the IMO regulation, general safety and steering. We also strongly focus on the tides, fluid dynamics, depth calculation etc.

Certification:

Naviclass is recognised by the RYA/MCA to hold and to correct the exam on the spot.  
The exam questions are given to us by the RYA.

The theoretical exam (in writing) takes 5 hours in total. .
