For your safety at sea, a VHF maritime mobile radiotelephone is a must, but a DSC VHF maritime mobile radiotelephone is even better. By relying on digital technology and the use of satellites, the rescue teams will be able to help you more quickly and efficiently (Digital VHF, EPIRB, Sart etc).
However, the skipper has to learn to handle this new technology and is obliged to have a certificate to have it on board.

Intended for:

Skippers (for professional navigation and pleasure navigation) coastal navigation Zone A1 and ships < 500Gt.

Condition(s) to participate:

Except for the knowledge of the English language, no preliminary knowledge is required.

Course material:

For the practical training, we will use the real VHF DSC Maritime mobile radiotelephone equipment of different brands.

The participants will receive a syllabus in English.

During these 8 hours, we will do the following:

This training is entirely given in English.

Certification:

After having passed the exam, you will receive a Short Range Certificate, granted by the British government.
Naviclass is recognised by the RYA/MCA to hold and correct the exam on the spot. The exam questions are given to us by the RYA
The theory exam is organised on the spot and takes half an hour.

Remark: The British SRC certificate is accepted worldwide, but not in Belgium and Germany.
