RYA Competent Crew Sailboat
Sailing with a sailboat boat is teamwork. A skipper should be able to rely on his crew. During this training, all aspects of sailing at sea will be treated and you will be trained to become a valuable crew member.
Intended for:
Starters wanting to learn to navigate a sailing boat. You will be trained to become a valuable crew member and to navigate under supervision of a skipper.
Condition(s) to participate:
There are no specific conditions to participate to this training.
School boat:
A 11m-long sailyacht, annually inspected by the RYA and the Belgian authorities . All safety equipment and comfort are available aboard.
Programme:
During this 5-day training, we will teach you the following:
- Sail handling such as luffing up and bearing away, tacking, gybing, reefing, tightening and easing
- Course navigation by using a compass
- Mooring and sailing away
- Rigging, coiling, lashing cleats + knotting
- Fire instructions
- Safety
- Man-over-board recovery
During this 5-day training, you will navigate at least 100 miles and for 4 hours during the night. You have to sleep aboard.
Certification:
RYA Certificate competent crew after an evaluation
